Course Description

Given the globalization of healthcare and the importance of interprofessional collaborative practices in health care, it is important for future healthcare professionals to expand their understanding and knowledge about healthcare programs beyond the U.S.

In this course, students will explore and experience health and behavioral healthcare programs and interprofessional collaborative practices in diverse settings in South Korea. Also, students will experience cultural enrichment through on-site courses, agency visits, and interactions with Korean students.

Program Overview

On-campus sessions and in-country coursework in South Korea for 13 days
Visits to a variety of health and behavioral healthcare agencies such as government agencies that manage the South Korean national healthcare system and community service centers in urban and rural areas.
Group excursion to local attractions

Program Eligibility & Requirements

Bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral social work students on any of the IU campuses
Students from any disciplines interested in global health/behavioral health care
Respectful adaptation to another culture as well as the demands of group travel
Adherence to the rules and safety guidelines set by the program and university
