2012 DANESH Institute Annual Conference Call for Proposals

SECOND GENERATION IRANIAN-AMERICANS AND OTHER IMMIGRANTS: EXPERIENCE, EXPECTATIONS, AND CHALLENGES

St. Xavier University, Chicago

This year's DANESH Institute conference will be held in cooperation with the Middle Eastern Studies of St. Xavier University in Chicago. The conference is to focus on the experience of second generation Iranian-Americans as well as other immigrants. As such, this conference is to explore expectations and challenges confronting this generation at home emphasizing Iranian culture and outside of home representing American culture. In addition, the conference is intended to make recommendations for dealing with issues identified.

In relation to the above theme, the Conference Planning Committee invites submission of proposals for papers and roundtables. Papers include empirical or conceptual studies. Roundtables are subjects for panel discussions.

Each proposal should include the following information:

1. Name, institutional affiliation, address, e-mail, and phone number(s) for each presenter;
2. Title of the paper or roundtable (12 word maximum);
3. An abstract of the proposal.

The 10th Annual Conference on Health, Disability and Law

The 10th Annual Conference on Health, Disability and Law will be held Monday, May 21, 2012 at the Indiana University School of Law – Wynne Courtroom, Indianapolis. The topic of this year’s conference is Obesity Bias and Bullying: Where are we now and what can we do about it. BOOK LAUNCH: TRABALHADORES -- Workers: New Perspectives and Comparisons

Dear IUSB Labor Studies Students:

The Book Launch for TRABALHADORES -- Workers: New Perspectives and Comparisons took place on April 4th, 2012 on the IUSB Campus. Faulty, Staff, Students and Community representatives joined us for this event. The book is an anthology of articles about labor history and labor struggles in global perspective – focusing on case studies from Brazil, Argentina, and the United States.
